Four working days followed by four days off: an eight-day cycle that moves across the week. Start with a date you know is the first day of a work block.

This pattern is not a Monday-to-Friday week. Each new work block starts eight calendar days after the last, so its weekday moves forward by one. The generator keeps counting through month ends and New Year rather than restarting on the first of each month.

A useful calendar.
- Find the right cycle day 1.
If you only know the second day of a four-day work block, set day 1 to the previous date. W means work; it does not imply a day shift or a particular shift length.
- Try the worked example.
With cycle day 1 on 1 January 2026, 1–4 January are work days, 5–8 January are off, and 9–12 January are work days. On 31 January the cycle is on an off day; 2 February begins the next work block.
- Check before sharing.
Check the first and last days of two known work blocks. If only one block matches, your anchor or repeating sequence needs correcting. The copy-link action shares the repeat and anchor, not personal leave or date swaps.

Is 4 on 4 off the same as 2 days, 2 nights, 4 off?
They share an eight-day work/off rhythm, but the shift labels differ. Choose the separate 2 days / 2 nights page if your first two shifts are days and the next two are nights. Keep this work/off pattern if your actual shift types vary or you only need working dates.
Can I make a 2027 calendar without restarting my cycle?
Yes. Change Calendar year to 2027 and keep the same cycle day 1 date. The generator counts forward and backward from that anchor, so New Year does not restart the pattern. Any year from 2020 to 2040 is supported; 2026 is preselected on this page.
How do I print or share this calendar?
Set your pattern and start date, then choose Generate my calendar. Use Print / save as PDF for an A4 or US Letter calendar, CSV for a spreadsheet, or ICS for all-day labels in a calendar app. Copy crew link gives colleagues the same repeating pattern. It is a snapshot, not a live rota; personal leave and swaps are excluded.
Does this replace my employer’s rota?
No. This repeats the sequence you enter and does not receive staffing changes, calculate hours or verify rest requirements. Compare the result with your employer’s official rota before making plans. Night labels mark the starting date only.
